Both Greyhound and Peter Pan were unveiling a line of gorgeous new hi-tech buses, as well as revamping their older buses. This, along with a commitment to a pleasant passenger experience, was the foundation of the partnership.

However, a quick search online as late as summer 2010 could not show a single link between the two companies, and with revenue depending on mutual promotion, the situation was having a negative impact on sales. Customers who booked a fare expecting a Greyhound bus were suddenly and unceremoniously sent to the Peter Pan website with no explanation, and vice versa. Rather than continuing their booking, confused customers would abandon the purchase.

As the hub of an extensive media blitz, HCK2 proposed the creation of a microsite linking the two companies. Users would be prompted by the advertising campaign to visit the site, where they would be instantly informed of the partnership between Peter Pan and Greyhound, and be able to select not only their preferred fare, but the line on which they desired to travel.

In a matter of weeks, UncommonTransport.com was born. Built on a Drupal platform, the site allows the marketing directors from both companies to edit the fares for their joint venture lines and to add special promotions at a moment’s notice. The site also offers helpful tips for travelers looking for the proper terminal, purchasing fares online or for those who are simply trying to navigate the maze that is the New York Port Authority.
